Over the course of the past couple of decades, the martial arts industry has increased dramatically in size and, like any other trend, thousands of people have jumped on the bandwagon, peddling substandard martial arts classes to a public that is generally uneducated. The unfortunate reality is that even the "educated" consumer often doesna??t understand the right questions to ask when looking for a martial arts school. Occasionally I will have a potential client ask me, "What qualifications do your instructors have?" When I explain to them that our instructors undergo an extensive certification program where they are taught how to teach, some of those people are satisfied or even impressed. Others of them simply counter by saying, "No, I mean what degree of black belt are they?" I"m sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you cared how well they could teach, not how well they could kick. I have written this book with the intent of helping new instructors become good instructors, good instructors become great instructors, and great instructors become powerful leaders that people strive to emulate.
