Excerpt from Human Progress Through Missions
It becomes therefore manifest that there is no inter national endeavour to-day that assumes the same fundamental and permanent importance or that em bodies so many and varied possibilities. The unparallelled success of foreign missions during the century establishes beyond a doubt the divine character of its origin and its supreme worth. Only the uninformed or the willfully prejudiced can lightly speak of an enterprise so commanding, without ignoring well-established facts of history and doing violence to ordinary intelligence.
