In Luke 11:1 we hear Jesus" disciples ask a question that still rings loud today, ""Lord teach us to pray"". It could be assumed that anyone who spent time with Jesus and watched him for several years would know how to pray. However, his disciples needed additional assistance with how to pray effectively. We make the same assumptions with believers today in many areas. Going to church or to classes or even to seminary does not translate into practical or effective ministry. Jesus gave his disciples a resource; a model for them to use for prayer. We have created similar tools in the church today in the form of small manuals such as ""The Star Book for Ministers"", ""The Ministers Service Manual"", ""The Ministers Manual"" and lectionaries and other works designed to help the minister. We give thanks to God that there is now a resource of equal credibility to assist chaplains in their ministry. Rev. James Luoma has provided us with a resource that is practical and powerful in bringing the ministry of healing and answering the question "Lord, teach us . . ." He has provided a model to chaplains and any of Jesus" disciples today to become more effective instruments in God"s hand. Rev. Dr. Thomas W.
