Excerpt from The Son of Amram
The story of "The Son of Amram" is an attempt, in the form of fiction, at a true and complete account of Moses and the beginnings of Israel. It contains also the fullest sketch of the Great Bameses, - his person, his character and his achievements, that has yet appeared - so far as I know.
So much is claimed for this book, whatever its shortcomings may prove to be. I desire only to add that "The Son of Amram" is written from first to last in the spirit of Biblical and Hebrew tradition, but at the same time in the full light of the latest and highest, i. e., the sanest criticism, both of a literary and an archaeological character.
