It is the author's intention in this book to give the novice in sportsmanship such suggestions and plans of operations as might naturally be demanded by him of an experienced sportsman; occasionally relating passages from his own experience, and throughout pursuing a course that shall enable the novice to apply any ideas of his own that he may have to the task of becoming a practical good shot. This book is intended more especially for the sportsman of New England. It applies particularly to brush-shooting, by which is meant all kinds of hunting and shooting of game-birds, in the fields and in the woods. But it will also apply generally to any part of the United States or Europe; foe, in the writer's opinion, to be a good shot in New England is to be one the world over.
