Excerpt from Wolf-Hunting and Wild Sport in Lower Brittany
The scene of the following papers, contributed in the first place to "Baily's Magazine," is chiefly confined to the region of Cornouaille, in and around the Black Mountains of Lower Brittany, where the Author resided for two winters, and enjoyed the wild sport obtainable in the surrounding forests.
The main features of the narrative may be relied on; but at the same time he wishes it to be distinctly understood, in limine, that, owing to the want of sufficient records kept at the time, he has been compelled to depend in some measure for its production both on memory and fancy, twenty years having elapsed since he paid his last visit to that interesting country.
