Excerpt from Letters for Literary Ladies: To Which Is Added, an Essay on the Noble Science of Self-Justification

As a Second Edition of the following Book has been called for, it has been revised and corrected with that attention which is due from an author to the Public.

The first two Letters upon Female Literature, the Letters to Julia, and the Art of Self-Justification, were printed and paged separately: the publisher afterwards thought proper to join them in one volume, under the title of "Letters for Literary Ladies;" which is applicable only to the first two letter"s. - The author, however, has thought it better to continue the former name, than to hazard the imputation of publishing an old work under a new title.
