Vocabulaire Progressif du Francais C. Leroy-Miquel

An excellent way to increase your French vocabulary after about two or three years of college French or four years of high school French. If you follow the Common European Framework Reference for languages I would say the level of the book is B1/B2. There is very little overlap with the previous book in the same series (Niveau Intermediare, A2/B1) so this is a great follow-up book, even though a few of the thematic chapters have similar titles. What"s more, several of the chapters cover more technical areas of interest, such as science and technology, business, politics, and intellectual or abstract topics. If you are specifically interested in Business French, there is also a separate volume for that, "Vocabulaire Profressif du Francais des Affaires," in the same series by CLE, which goes into more detail.
