This is the story of Elias Panagos, an amazing and unflappable Greek hero, who, despite all odds, came from a very poor beginning to reach the pinnacles of success across the world. The book begins with his childhood reflections of being a survivor of the Greek and Armenian genocide at the hands of the Turks in 1922. He and his family were miraculously saved from a burning building that was set alight by the Turks to annihilate the occupants. The survivors were exiled; Elias and his family went back to Chios Greece, the place of his birth. Elias never ceased to dream big, and through a number of breaks, he found himself entering the world of wrestling. He later was to become the World H/W champion of Europe, Turkey, USA, and Australasia. When the outbreak of War occurred in Greece in 1940, Elias fought alongside other valiant men to defend their borders. Soon the Germans were to occupy Greece. While the soldiers were ordered back to their homes from the border, Elias had the desire to continue fighting, so he sought out other mountain men, and was soon fighting with the illustrious Greek Geurilla Movement in the mountains of Parnassus, Greece. While in the USA, Elias was given an audience with President Eisenhower in Washington DC, as the President had a particular interest in wrestling. In 1986 Elias was the guest at a dinner to honor his War achievements, and he received his war medals for both his work with the Guerilla Movement in Greece, and also for his undercover work during the Civil War. During this time in Australia Elias gave his heart completely to Jesus Christ and spent the last few years of his life telling others about their need to change and invite Him into their hearts. He died in March 2000. Maureen M Berry, the author of this book, was born in Christchurch New Zealand. Maureen left her native shores to take up residence in Sydney Australia in 1953 and remained there for 35 years. Maureen found her Lord in 1980, and later received her Bachelor degree in Brisbane Australia. In 1988 she and her husband Elias Panagos left to live in Greece. She labored there for 12 years until the death of Elias in 2000. Maureen briefly returned to her homeland New Zealand. In 2002 she met and married her beloved Alvin F Berry, from New York State, USA. Although Maureen has retired from church ministry, she travels with her husband, sharing her life story and that of her deceased husband, Elias, to churches and believers around the world. Maureen has four children; Tim, Andreas, Ioanna and Olympia. She also has 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The best is yet to come!
