After talking about it over the phone, her and Steve decide to begin a long-distance relationship, but they hardly ever see each other, and she begins to spiral down into a state of deep depression, alcohol, and loneliness. Eventually, her and Steve end up saying goodbye, and by the end of the film, she is many years older and looks far older than her actual years, sitting alone in her cramped little apartment and watching old DVDs of her films by herself. Near the end of the film, we see a single tear streaming from one eye, as she realizes all she tossed away in the pursuit of fame and fortune. She travels back home to visit again, and while sitting alone in the spot where her and Steve had first met so long ago, Steve shows up, and they embrace, Janice realizing he still loves her, and they will spend what’s left of their lives together.
