Chistye Prudy Boulevard is a collection of short stories by writers whose work represents diverse (although far from all) stylistic trends in modern Soviet prose.

First come stories by Yuri Nagibin, which contain thoughts about the burning ethical issues of the day and about ways of improving the moral nature of man.

In his search for original idioms, Nagibin proceeds from the rich traditions of classical Russian literature. Typical features of his style are abundant figures of I speech, original rhythmical patterns, unconventional word usage, and words coined by the author.
