Johann Sebastian Bach transcribed several of his own works for another instrument subsequendy. The cello variant of the Flute Partita (BWV 1013) included here is, according to the arranger"s intentions, not alien to Bach"s instrumental transcriptions and the transcription practice of his time, either. The copy which served as source for the present edition is held in the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin - Preufiischer Kulturbesitz under the shelf mark Mus. ms. Bach P 968. This copy must have been made during Bach"s life on the basis of Bach"s autograph manuscript.
