Frank William Taussig (1859-1940), American economist and educator at Harvard University was the chairman ofthe U.S. Tariff Commission (1917-1919). He was a respected neo-classical economist who had considerable influence on successive generations of American economists. Taussig held his powerful Harvard pulpit until 1935, when that chair was handed over to his more colorful successor, Joseph Schumpeter.
