The name of Alexander Bogomazov has long been hidden in the leading figures of the Russian avant-garde movement. Despite the 1980s the artist"s paintings have been displayed at numerous exhibitions of his theoretical works have been periodically published, hi; been virtually unknown to the Russian speaking public until recently.
After a long period of neglect, the first exhibition of Bogomazov"s in 1966 at the Republican House of Writers in Kiev. After this, there again followed years of silence. Ukrainian critics Edward Dymshits, Dmitri Gorbad and Elena Koshuba wrote concerning the last decades of Bogomazov"s output. The artist"s daughter has also written a memoir about her father. A private collection of Bogomazov"s work went on display in Toulouse in 1991 and included a catalogue a catalogue in French. A fragment of Bogomazov"s main theoretical treatise "Painting and Elements", originally produced in 1914 (in Ukrainian) was published in Russian and reviewed only in 2003.
