This collection contains excerpts from Lenin's most important writings on trade unions, their role and place in the political system of society. It begins with a chronological survey of Lenin's life and work. This is followed by a prefatory essay entitled "Lenin's Teachings on Trade Unions" written by the compilers of this collection, research associates of the Institute of Marxism-Leninism of the CPSU Central Committee Serafima BUTOCHNIKOVA and Yevdokiya POLKOVNIKOVA. The excerpts are arranged chronologically in accordance with the 5th edition of Lenin's Collected Works. At the end of the collection are commentaries on Lenin's utterances as well as a name index with brief information about the persons mentioned.
