Brooklyn Wainwright is thrilled to be invited to appear on the San Francisco edition of the hit TV show "This Old Attic," as the rare book expert and appraiser. She is taped appraising a very valuable, first-edition copy of the classic children's book The Secret Garden, which is owned by a plain flower-shop owner named Vera. But soon after the show airs, a furious man claims that Vera found The Secret Garden at his garage sale and he wants it back, or else. Afterward, the show's handsome host Randolph Rayburn confides in Brooklyn that he fears he is being stalked. In the days that follow, several violent incidents on the set, at least one of which seems intended for Brooklyn, leave her and her securities-expert boyfriend Derek shaken. And then Brooklyn visits Vera's flower shop...and discovers her strangled. Did the original owner of The Secret Garden kill her to get his book back?
