Hotel location decisions in developing countries have been thought to be similar to those in developed countries. However, little empirical evidence exists with respect to developing countries. The focus of this study was therefore to assess the location decisions of hotel owners in the Kumasi Metropolis. The results of the study indicated that, hotel development patterns in the Metropolis are congruent with the national economic and political development patterns in Ghana as well as the history of tourism development in Ghana and the Metropolis. Six main underlying dimensions accounted for hotel location in the Metropolis. Furthermore, the extent to which the hotel owners considered each domain of location factor differed significantly across certain hotel characteristics.
