A great deal of importance has been accorded to terrorism in recent years because it has emerged as the single largest problem of the decade. The terrorist attack of 9/11 on the World Trade Center and subsequent events have clearly demonstrated that terrorism is not a negligible threat within the United States but one that needs to be effectively tackled. In view of the concerns that are generated by terrorism, the question of how well prepared law enforcement agencies are, both at the local and federal levels, is a vital issue. I propose to arrive at a conclusion about the state of preparedness of the local police to deal with the issue of terrorism if it arises within their jurisdictions. The results of the study could benefit Kentucky State Police, as well as serve as a possible model for other law enforcement agencies to increase citizens’ protection.
