Lithium, as an element, was discovered two hundred years ago (1817), but it was not until the seminal work of the Australian physician, John Cade some 70 years ago, that lithium was seen by modern psychiatry as an effective treatment for manic-depressive illness. during the last decade many studies revealed new targets for lithium, which may explain its therapeutic mechanisms in MDI on one hand, and would hold promises for future uses of lithium on the other, here we examin a possible use of lithium in treating Parkinson's Disease.
