Lead (Pb) poisoning can have serious and even fatal consequences at any age, but young children are especially vulnerable. The effects of Pb exposure had long been recognized to cause adverse effects on psychic, behavioral activity and other physiological consequences. In developing countries like Pakistan, mostly, peoples have low socio-economic status, and they preferred to live in the vicinity of industrial site of urban areas, to overcome their expenses on transport. With the recent ban of leaded gasoline in Pakistan, emphasis should shift to other sources of exposure in children. No national figures on Pb poisoning-related effects levels in children living in and around Pb industrial areas in Pakistan are currently in operation.
