Multiparticulates or pellets are more popular as sustained released dosage forms. These multiparticulates offer flexibility in dosage form design by filling them into capsule, compression into a tablet either conventional or fast dissolving or into sachets that can be administered along with food. They are also helpful in minimizing the effect of food on absorption as they flow freely in the gastro-intestinal tract irrespective of presence or absence of food and the opening or closing nature of pyloric sphincter.
