"Time is not a thing, thus nothing which is, and yet it remains constant in its passing away without being something temporal like the beings in time." Martin Heidegger, Being and Time. My project aims to critically engage with temporality and existential philosophical questions embodying the paradoxical nature of being and its uncanny nature through both still and moving photo-image mediums. As this project is in relation to myself as a temporal being in the world, there exists a tendency to locate myself as a questioning point in relation to the project. This has been at the heart of my methodology and returning experience encountered within this project. As my approach is informed by a philosophical questioning, rather than say convened by psychoanalysis or other more dominant conventions of film theory (Marxism, feminism etc), my project frames itself as a existential phenomenological philosophical enquiry that is brought to the fields of film and photography via the uncanny.
