Kwandhula is an elaborate introduction ceremony of a husband to the wife''s family, among the Basoga and Baganda of Uganda. This book presents an ethnography of the rapidly changing institution of marriage among two of the largest nationalities found in Uganda. The introduction of modernizing influences more than a century ago has resulted in changing many aspects of the way people lead their lives. The kwandhula ceremony as part of culture has not been spared from evolution as due to external influences. This book presents the kwandhula process and shows how it has changed over time. It takes readers through the process showing the main actors are during the kwandhula ceremony. The methodology is unstructured, qualitative and this is an insider''s insight of what occurs during an introduction or marriage ceremony among the said societies. It is a narrative and interpretative discussion of this institution which has a lot of bearing on family and kinship life of the said societies....
