My belief is that to understand and speak coherently about one''s own painting, one must first become receptive to the channels in oneself through which one''s imagery makes its way to the canvas. These channels are myriad, from the most sensitive nerve endings in the finger tips to synapses at work in both the thinking mind and the dreaming mind, which are inseparable from one another as parts of the body. In other words, painting as I understand it, is not an expression of what one thinks or feels, exclusively, but of what one is.
