Letters of Euler, on Different Subjects in Natural Philosophy Addressed to a German Princess, With Notes, and a Life of Euler, Vol. 2 of 2 is the latter half of a series publishing the letters of mathematician Leonhard Euler. The intended recipient of these letters was Friederike Charlotte of Brandenburg-Schwedt and her younger sister Louise, all of which were written between 1760 and 1762. The letters were initially published as a result of the insistence of Catherine II who believed that they were treasures the general public deserved access to. Since Euler was a mathematician, first and foremost, the letters often begin with basic explanations of size and mathematics. As the letters progress, however, Euler introduces other subjects of import such as science, politics, history, physics and philosophy.
