Excerpt from The War Against War: And the Enforcement of Peace
The author of the following essays, Professor Christen Christian Collin, holds an eminent position among Norwegian men of letters of to-day. Born in Trondhjem in 1857, he graduated in 1887 at the University of Christiania, to the professorial staff of which he at present belongs. Long and frequent visits to France, Germany, and England have familiarised him, not only with the literature, but with the whole life and thought of Western Europe; and a critical essay on Tolstoy shows that his studies have not been confined to the West. He was an intimate friend of Bjornstjerne Bjornson during the later years of that great poets life; and he has published the first instalment of a richly-documented biography of his friend.
