Excerpt from Principle, Policy and Practice or Democracy Versus Passiveism and Sectionalism: Or Truth as Opposed to Sacrificing Established National Principles to Sectional Departing Expediency
I Shall, take the liberty (as liberty is the order of the day) to offer a few facts (and facts are stubborn things) for the candid consideration of the honest, reading, thinking minds of this land of promise, thus stationed with a model of stately or patent right self-government, or this world we live in, yielding in season and out of season only disobedience, sin and death. Which facts you will please read carefully, prayerfully, and judge according to the honest convictions or dictates of conscience. I shall attempt to pave the way to our straight and narrow path of science, civilization and Christianity, with a trinitorial, eventful, chain of proverbial Axioms.
First. In establishing the fact that the pen of peace is more mighty than the sword of war! Peace is our Divine, national, Creator, moral union Savior, and spiritual or constitutional, liberty Redeemer!
