Excerpt from Presented to the Library of the University of Toronto
Blessed art thou, - the Eternal, our God, King of the universe, who feedeth the whole world with his goodness, in grace, in mercy and compassion, for his mercy endureth for ever. And in his great goodness he hath never let us want, nor will he suffer us to want food for evermore for the sake of his great name; for he is God, who feedeth and sustaineth all, and dealeth beneficently unto all, and prepareth food for all his creatures whom he hath called into being: Blessed art thou, O Eternal! who feedestall.
We will render thanks unto thee, Eternal, our God! for that thou didst cause our ancestors to inherit a land, desirable, goodly, and ample, a Covenant and a Law, with bread in plenty: Blessed art thou, O Eternal! for the land and for the food.
Have compassion, Eternal, our God! upon Israel, thy people, and upon the kingdom of the house of David, thine anointed, and mayest thou speedily increase the glory of the House, and comfort us twofold. Blessed art thou, - the Eternal, who in his mercy buildeth Jerusalem. Amen!
