"If you please, Melenda," said Valentine, presenting herself in the morning after breakfast, I am come to do Lotty"s work for her today.
Lotty was Avith her, looking guilty and rather frightened.
I didn"t ask her, Melenda, she explained.
"She wants a rest," said Valentine; "I mean to do it. May I work here with you, Melenda, or shall I work in my own room? It will be quieter for Lotty if I sit here."
