My two books Spring"s Immortality and Other Poems and Pictures of Travel and Other Poems being now out of print it has been judged advisable to publish their contents anew in a single volume, and to add some poems not hitherto collected.
One of my critics, to whose views I attach importance, has questioned the accuracy of my natural history, because in "Spring"s Immortality" I say :
"From many a stone the ouzels sing
By yonder mossy stream."
- his contention being that the bird under such conditions merely says Chit!
