A little knowledge, it has often been said, is a dangerous thing. It has likewise been said that a man who is his own lawyer has a fool for a client. As a matter of fact, these proverbs, like all others, contain a half truth and a half error. Proverbs in fact never lead to anything except to make a man dissatisfied with what he is doing. The purpose of this work is to provide those for whom it is designed with a little knowledge that shall not be dangerous. Claim work is a field so closely related to the law that the pursuit of the one profession frequently leads to the other with little apparent effort. For certain of the same qualifications make for success in both.
