Excerpt from Peeps at Our Sunday-Schools
Here are some sketches of the work, and of the workers at work. They are from life.
Encouraged by the very cordial and unexpectedly favorable reception given on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean to my "Sunday-School Photographs," published several years ago, I have put these "Peeps" into the form in which you now look through them. As you go with me to look at the Sunday-schools, and we enjoy our brief glimpses at them, please to remember that these pages are not meant to contain finely spun theories, or didactic disquisitions on what a Sunday-school ought to be, but rather pictures of what our schools are.
