In this Edition the book has been considerably enlarged. The effect of recent decisions has been incorporated in the text. A new section describing the laws conferring Constitutions on those Colonies possessing responsible government has been added to Chapter III. The provisions of some important modem Statutes affecting the Colonies have been set out in Chapters III. and IV. - e.g., the Fugitive Offenders Act (an intra-imperial Extradition Act) and Orders in Council made thereunder, the Colonial Prisoners Removal Act (creating a system of intercolonial transportation), the Colonial Copyright Act and Orders in Council made thereunder, the Merchant Shipping (Colonial Inquiries) Act, the Colonial Courts of Admiralty Act, the Evidence by Commission Act, the Acts for the ascertainment of British and of Foreign law, &c.
