Excerpt from Is Christianity Practicable?
On the 25th of April, 1912, there died in the Severance Hospital at Seoul a man who was bound to Japan by many ties. For fourteen years a missionary in Tokyo, George William Knox continued after his return to the United States to take a lively interest in things Japanese. Through his books and articles he interpreted the spirit of the Japanese people to his fellow countrymen in America, and during the Russo-Japanese War he was one of the most effective advocates of the Japanese cause. It was always his hope to revisit the country where his young manhood had been spent, and to share with his friends there, young and old, the insights of his maturer years.
