Compiled from, the various official, state and national records, local histories, and town, parish and other records, as to those in the Revolution. The military records of the Calkinses in the Civil War are taken from the Adjutant-General"s reports of the several loyal states, supplemented in many cases and as far as possible by the statements of soldiers still living, or by members of their families, to the author.
