Mr. A. Leo Knott is a native of Frederick county, Maryland. He received the first rudiments of a classical education in St. Johns College, Frederick, an institution of learning founded and conducted by the Jesuits and of considerable note and prominence in its day.
On the removal of his family to Baltimore he entered St. Mary"s College in this city. This College was founded in 1791 by the celebrated Sulpician Order of French Catholic Priests, who had taken refuge in Maryland from the storms of the French Revolution.
