Nations, like individuals, are liable to diseases of various kinds; and all diseases are subject to a crisis, or critical moment, when a change must take place, either for restoration or dissolution: to such a state as this is the United States, at this truly awful moment, reduced, by the drivelling policy and imbecile judgment of a man, of whose talents and political integrity the good people of these states have formed a most erroneous estimate.
