Excerpt from Celebration of the Quarter-Century of Smith College, October Second and Third, 1900
At the spring meeting of the Trustees of Smith College, April 2, 1900, it was voted to celebrate the completion of twenty-five years of its academic work; and the President, L. Clark Seelye, the treasurer, Charles N. Clark, and Mrs. Elizabeth L. Clarke, one of the alumn? trustees, were appointed a committee to make suitable arrangements for it. The Faculty, also, were requested to appoint committees to cooperate with the Trustees.
In compliance with this request, the Faculty appointed Professors Henry M. Tyler, Mary A. Jordan, and William F. Ganong a Committee of Arrangement, and Professors John T. Stoddard, Eleanor P. Cushing, and Irving F. Wood a Committee of Entertainment.
