Excerpt from Pages From the Sermons of a Young Country Minister
Faith.
Though days and months and years I bear
A Cross of wood,
Though bend with care,
Though grief o"er all my life be spread;
If faith be absent, I am dead.
Faith only is the living stay
Of living men along the way.
The law my guide, I start and shrink;
But walk with faith along the brink:
And sorrow ne"er can darker be
Than faith shall light the way for me.
She rides in peace above the wave;
She knows her God is strong to save.
