These outlines, based originally on Strumpell"s Leitfaden, have long been used in my clinic in type-written copy as guides in case-taking. Being intended merely as outlines, methods are not included. Laboratory manipulations necessary in the study of cases are for the most part familiar to the student when he begins clinical work. Hand-books are available in the clinical laboratory and should be consulted freely.
The first edition of this little work has been used with considerable satisfaction in practical work in the medical wards. In preparing the present edition I have profited by experience in previous years and have also had the valuable assistance of Doctor J. S. Brotherhood in adding material. I am especially indebted to Doctor Ernest Sachs for additions and improvements in the neurological section.
