Except a few verbal alterations, the present volume has little in it which was not in the original edition. In a few places I have been able to make use of the Melbourne MSS., and I am now able, with the help of the recently-published narrative of Glanville, to solve the question why, in the expedition to Cadiz, Sir E. Cecil did not take provisions with him when he marched inland from Fort Puntal.
