Excerpt from The Official Reports of the High Court of the South, 1903, Vol. 1: African Republic; Index and Table of Cases
In submitting these Translations to the public, I wish to express my gratitude to the Hon. J. G. Kotze, K.C., for his kindness in revising the manuscript. Those who best know Mr. Kotze will most fully appreciate the valuable assistance which he has given to me.
These Translations were begun during the early part of the year 1901, when the state of professional business in the Transvaal left considerable leisure on my hands.
In the early part of the work I was assisted by Mr. C. A. Wentzel, but unfortunately for me he was prevented from giving further assistance after his appointment to the office of Chief Magistrate of the Witwatersrand District, which he now fills.
