Excerpt from The History of the Forty Vezirs: Or the Story of the Forty Morns and Eves
The following translation of the celebrated Turkish Romance generally known as the History of the Forty Vezirs, has been made from a printed but undated text procured a few years ago in Constantinople. The MS. version, of which this copy, which I shall call the Const. Text, is an impression, has been dedicated to a Sultan Mustafa ;but there is nothing to indicate which of the four Ottoman monarchs who bore that name is intended.
