The family Lamiaceae has cosmopolitan distribution and includes over 250 genera and 7000 species. The family is known for its fine ornamental or culinary herbs like basil, lavender, mint, oregano, rosemary, sage and thyme, and is a rich source of essential oils for the flavoring and perfume industry. Three species of genus Ballota (Ballota undulata, B. kaiseri, and B. saxatilis (endemic - B. kaiseri) are subjected to a number of threats which cause the populations to decline in both number and size. In this book we will focus on the famous genera of Lamiaceae and their geographical distribution, medicinal importance, the most important studies which has been done on those important species in the world. Also, we will provide readers with review on the most important studies on family Lamiaceae with attention paid to the most important studies including the description of morphological characteristic of this family, with also focus on the most common and famous plant specie which are very frequently used in folk medicine and used since the ancient days.
