Excerpt from Short Course in Quantitative Chemical Analysis
In this little book, the Author endeavors to provide a laboratory guide suitable for the use of beginners in Quantitative Analysis.
1. The course prescribed is so short as to be capable of study from beginning to end within the time allotted to an ordinary course of practical Chemistry.
2. On the other hand, it has been the aim to have the work include such a number of exercises as will enable the student not only to become acquainted with the methods of determining all the most frequently-occurring elements, but also to study a variety of type-processes.
3. A considerable number of explanatory notes have been provided. It is believed that these will be helpful to both teacher and pupil; to the latter these notes will not only be instructive - they will help him to work understandingly rather than mechanically.
4. The plan of the book contemplates regular recitations by the student. The author deems this to be a matter of great importance.
