Excerpt from Report of the Survey of the Feeble Minded in Montana, 1919
The Survey reported in this bulletin was authorized by the Legislative Assembly of 1917, and placed under the direction of the State Board of Education. The purpose of the survey was to ascertain, in a general way, the number of feeble-minded persons in the state, their conditions and needs, and to present the information thus obtained to the members of the Legislative Assembly at the present session, for their consideration in relation to making an increased provision for the care and training of feeble-minded persons.
Thru the aid of the National Committee on Provision for the Feeble-Minded, Miss Helen F. Hill, was secured to undertake the work of the Survey in March 1918, and, while the completion of the Survey has been greatly interfered with by the epidemic of influenza, we trust enuf has been done to impress the readers of this brief report with the urgency of the situation and the expediency of immediate action on the part of the State.
