Excerpt from The Mind of a Child
I feel as though I were bound to make some apology for adding yet another book to those already written about children. One scarcely passes a day without picking up or seeing advertised a book dealing with this subjects. And I am anxious here, at the beginning, to enter, not an apology perhaps, but an explanation of why I have been led to write this book.
I have written books about children before, though not quite on the same lines. I have been struck during the last few year by the way in which we are gradually drifting away from the subject of children and concentrating all our attention upon the child; this is not peculiar to myself, I know.
