Excerpt from Life in Mind Conduct: Studies of Organic in Human Nature
The conclusion of a sober reflection on the brief records and various revolutions of human things has been enshrined by Shakspeare in the lines of his sonnet to Time : -
"Our dates are brief, and therefore we admire
What thou dost foist upon us that is old,
And rather have them born to our desire
Than think that we before have heard them told."
And long before Shakspeare's day Laotze, the Chinese contemporary of Confucius, six hundred years before Christ, had expressed the same thought.
