Excerpt from Public Health in Relation to Air and Water
The Lectures which form the larger part of the present Volume were delivered during last summer to an audience partly composed of students of medicine, and partly of persons otherwise interested in the subject of Public Health. The circumstances which made it appear to me expedient to engage in a short course of instruction on this subject, are fully stated in the beginning of the first of these Lectures; and it has been thought better, on the whole, to preserve in their revision as much as possible of the original form, than by any considerable alteration of plan to aim at removing the peculiarities of oral delivery.
