Excerpt from The Healthy Baby: The Care and Feeding of Infants in Sickness and in Health
The author's chief reason for writing this book was to make clear to the mother just how to do best the ordinary everyday things that every mother has to do for her child. He believes that there is a definite need for a book, which will describe in the minutest detail the daily care of the baby. The description or treatment of any but the simplest ailments has purposely been left out, because a book of this sort which attempts in any way to describe diseases, does more harm than it does good. A well-trained physician or a specialist in children's diseases finds it difficult enough at times to diagnose the different affections, and it only confuses the mother or nurse to describe the different diseases to her.
The chapter on feeding has purposely been cut down, and all complicated formulas omitted.
